Another win took East Grinstead joint top of the league and kept up their 100% record after 2 games.

Debuts were given to U18's goalkeeper Lorcan Healy and new signing Luciano Osbourne.

After a scrappy first 15 minutes, East Grinstead started to dominate the ball with their possession and pace in the last third. Arif & Boonpen both having good chances before Ben Burns scored a great volley from 25 yards on 20 mins giving the Whyteleafe keeper no chance. More chances quickly followed from West, Boonpen & Burns. A great run from West was found perfectly by Fitchett's inch perfect pass. West controlled the ball before being brought down in the area by the Whyteleafe keeper. Burns converted his second penalty in two games.

The second half started slowly for East Grinstead as Whyteleafe started to get more into the game. Whyteleafe worked hard to stop East Grinstead's midfield three of Wallis, Patterson & West. Burns had a great opportunity on 60 minutes but could only put his shot over from 4 yard. Whyteleafe pulled one back in the 75th minute when 2 errors led to East Grinstead conceding a corner which Whyteleafe scored from. East Grinstead quickly regained their 2 goal advantage with a fine team goal converted by Somule who made it 2 goals in 2 games. Anderson hit the bar after lobbing the keeper from 30 yards.

Whyteleafe continued to push forward in search of goals and 2 great saves on his debut from 16 year old Lorcan Healy made sure East Grinstead came away with 3 points.

Team: Healy, Osbourne, Fitchett, Montuga-Dodds (Wright), Baker, Wallis, Patterson, West, Boonpen (Somule), Arif, Burns (Anderson) Not used Paul, Kseniuk

East Grinstead got off to a great start in their first ever game in the Ryman U21 league. The score line should have been more empathic after dominating the game and creating many goal scoring opportunities.

Goals came from Boonpen 2, Mazzone, Burns, Anderson & Somule.

First team manager Matt Longhurst made the long trip to watch and was rewarded with some very good performances from a number of players pushing for first team football. Boonpen was always a threat with his pace and direct running, scoring 2 and winning a penalty.

The defending still needs some work after conceding 3 goals in a game they dominated.

Team: Lardent, Wright (Hilali), Alcock, Goulter, Baker, Wallis, Patterson, Mazzone, Boonpen, Burns (Anderson), Somule

MacDonalds man of the match: Boonpen
